Exercise Ball or Desk Chair: Which is Better for Back Pain?

You might have heard that sitting on an exercise ball is a good idea while sitting at your desk.

However, this might not be right for everyone. When you sit on an exercise ball, you are sitting on an unstable surface and this causes your back and abdominal muscles to work harder because you are sitting on a softer, unstable surface. While this might be good for a few minutes for a challenge, after some time, your back might not like having to work so hard.

Furthermore, if you suffer from some back pain already, putting this extra demand on your spine while sitting might not feel well on your back muscles.
