What is the Best Bed Height?

Have you ever thought about the height of your bed and the effects it has on your body?

It can have an impact on your body in ways you might not think of. Getting into a high bed will make you put much weight on the standing leg while you put the other knee up onto the bed. The knee on the bed then has to bend quite a bit and compressed as you shift all your weight onto it to propel yourself upward onto the bed.

Conversely, a very low bed can be difficult to get up out of and will place strain on your lower back, hips, or knees as you try to move from a sit to standing position. If you lack strength in your thighs and hips (quadriceps and glutes), it will be tough to lift yourself up to standing. This becomes more of an issue as we mature in years.
